The Action Taker's Book Club
For people who want personal development books to do more than inspire them.
Each book is explored through the lens of money, earning, and income growth, with a focus on applying the ideas in real life so they lead to better decisions and tangible results.
The Trance of Scarcity
Starting Monday 16th February at 10am UK time
Many of us live with a constant sense that something isn’t quite settled. Enough never fully arrives. Even when life is going well, there can be an underlying tension around money, safety, time, or belonging.
The Trance of Scarcity explores where that feeling comes from. It looks at scarcity not simply as a financial issue, but as a deeply learned state that shapes how we think, decide, relate, and move through the world. Often without us realising it.
This book gives language to experiences many people carry but rarely articulate. It invites a different kind of attention to how scarcity shows up in the body, in everyday choices, and in the stories we tell ourselves about what is possible.
Reading it offers insight. Reading it together offers something more.
When we read alone, it’s easy to interpret what we notice as personal or unique to us. In conversation with others, patterns become visible. Familiar thoughts and behaviours are recognised for what they are — shared, learned, and shaped by culture as much as by individual circumstance.
Coming together around a chapter each week allows the ideas to unfold more fully. Discussion creates space for reflection, perspective, and connection. Hearing how others respond to the same words often deepens understanding in ways private reading can’t.
This is a book club held with care and intention. We come together each week to read one chapter and talk about what stood out, what resonated, and what raised questions. There’s no expectation to arrive with answers or insights — just a willingness to read and be part of the conversation.
If you’re interested in exploring your relationship with money, sufficiency, and safety in thoughtful company, this book club may be a good place to begin.

This is the first time I've ever been in a book club and wasn't sure what to expect. The book we are reading makes us think about how we live and lessons along the way. It's also great to have an amazing group of people who we can learn so much from and share experiences.

How to get the most from a book and truly inspire you!
The way this is structured makes reading a book so much more powerful than reading alone. Sarah has selected powerful books, and creates a relaxed and safe atmosphere, promoting open conversation, and a deeper appreciation of the book.
I feel hugely inspired after each session and it's already showed in my work and personal life.
I recommend this to everyone. Don't dismiss it because you don't know what you're missing!

Sarah's book clubs are great. The books are interesting, they always get you thinking and asking questions. As an avid reader, I get to do what I love, read and learn something new each week as well as meeting up with a great bunch of people.
